Iranian, Italian Team Discuss Pasargadae Restoration

Cyrus Tomb, Pasargadae, Iran

Tehran, March 10, 2010: A team of Iranian and Italian experts have discussed possible methods to restore Pasargadae in Iran+s southern Fars Province.

Experts from the Italian Ministry for Cultural Heritage and Activities joined their Iranian counterparts at a conference held by Iran+s Parsa and Pasargadae Research Center last week.

The Italian Institute for Africa and Orient (IsIAO) is currently studying ways to restore the Persian capital of Persepolis.

Established in 1995 by the merger of Istituto Italiano per il Medio ed Estremo Oriente (IsMEO) and the Italian-African Institute of IIA, IsIAO is only one of the many groups which have conducted studies and excavations at Achaemenid sites in Iran.

Iranian experts completed a series of restoration projects on the Cyrus Tomb in Pasargadae in Nov. 2008.
