Skull of 4800-Year Old Artificial Eye
11th season of excavation in Burnt City aims to measure size of grave yard and research on the residential areas.
 CHN Foreign Desk- 11 November 2007- Seyyed Mansour Seyyed Sadjadi, head of excavation team of the Burnt City announced start of the 11th season of excavation in this area. According to Seyyed Sadjadi, goals of this excavating season are measuring exact sizes of the grave yard, and doing further research on residential areas.
 
Repairing the skull in which the 4800-year old artificial eye was discovered, is amongst the highlighted objectives of this recent excavation season.
 
Scientists from different international organizations such as Newcastle University, Museum of Eastern arts of Rome, and National research center of Italy, plus groups of Iranian experts started the 11th season of excavation in the Burnt City on 10th of November 2007.
 
Sadjadi introduced a team of experts from Sistan and Baluchestan University to work on the skull in which the ancient artificial eye has been discovered last year.
 
Representatives of the Newcastle University are conducting research on the hair of this skull to gain some information on Nutrition and eating habits of this tribe.
 
According to the evidences, the excavated artificial eye used to belong to a heavy weighted 25-30 years old woman, which was discovered in the 10 season of excavation in grave number 6705.
 
Burnt City has got 5 Thousand years of history and its habitants had found access to astonishing advancements in civilization.
