Asiab Rig Tower Inscribed as National Heritage Site

The solo historical tower of Asiab Rig has been registered in Iran’s National Heritage List.
Tehran, 9 July 2007 (CHN Foreign Desk) -- The historical solo tower of Asiab-e Rig located in city of Mehriz, Iranian Yazd province, has been registered under the number of 17861 in list of Iran’s National Heritage sites.
 
This historical building with 22 meters height and 12 meters in diameter is situated in   Baghdad Abad Sofla district and was one of the solo watching towers in the region.
 
This historic tower is consisted of two floors with separate entrances. The first floor was used for keeping the horses of guards, and a special place was allocated to security guards and the top of the tower was used as the watching tower for shooting.   
 
The city of Mehriz has been surrounded by 4 separate towers during ancient times for being protected against thefts and burglars.
 
House of Molla Ali Bahabad has been also reconstructed by spending 7000 US Dollars. During this three months project, the roof and walls of this historic building was reconstructed by clay and the chopped straw, the dado of the walls were strengthened.  
 
This building belongs to Qajar dynastic era (1787-1921 AD) and is located in old texture of Bahabad inside the tower.
 
This quadseason house has a porch in the northern side with stucco decorated rooms around it.
