WFP

Tehran, July 27, 2010: A number of Iranian cineastes have been commissioned by the UN World Food Program (WFP) to make short films on world health.

Rakhshan Bani-Etemad, Kamran Shirdel, Mehdi Naderi, Bayram Fazli, Turaj Aslani, Rokhsareh Qaem-Maqami, and Mahnaz Mohammadi are the seven Iranian filmmakers who are currently working on short films.

Kamran Shirdel is working on two projects about eradicating hunger in the world and reducing the number of deaths among children.

Issues such as AIDS, mothers+ health, environmental sustainability, and educational coequality are some of themes for the one-minute films being produced, MNA reported on Sunday.

Bani-Etemad is working on mothers+ health, Mohammadi on education for all children, Aslani on equality of man and woman, Qaem-Maqami on AIDS, Fazli on environment and Naderi on international collaboration for development.

All the eight films will be submitted in one package to the UN Headquarters in New York in September. The films are due to be aired on different international channels.
