Tehran, July 18, 2010: The Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) has mounted a group exhibition, showcasing modern works by three contemporary Iranian artists. |

1, 2, 3: Three Contemporary Iranian Artists displays photographs and multimedia artworks by, Yasaman Ameri, Samira Alikhanzadeh and the late Iranian documentary photographer Bahman Jalali The event presents Photographs by Jalali including his Qajar works, which he created by combining flowers and Persian calligraphy with Qajar era photos, presstv.com reported. Best known for his documentary photographs of Iran+s Islamic Revolution, Jalali died of cancer at the age of 65 in Tehran. The Canada-based photographer and multimedia artist Ameri has offered her recontextualized perception of women in fictive settings. The month-long exhibition also displays unique installations by painter and multimedia artist Alikhanzadeh, who has interwoven pictures of Iranian women in the early twentieth century with pieces of modern Persian carpets. LACMA will also screen independent documentary filmmaker Robert Adanto+s Pearls on the Ocean Floor: A Documentary on Contemporary Female Iranian Artists on July 22, 2010. The film, which will be screened during a special session organized by the Farhang Foundation and the Art of the Middle East Council (LACMA), features interviews with a number of successful female Iranian artists including Shadi Qadirian, Haleh Anvari, Sara Rahbar, Bahar Sabzevari and Negar Ahkami. |
