Tehran, 29 December 2005 (CHN) -- A four-star hotel by the name “Daryache” (lake) will be constructed in Bam New Citadel due to the increase in the number of experts who visit the industrial and producing units of Special Economical Region of Bam New Citadel. “The best place for the building of this hotel has been determined and the construction will start as soon as the budget is provided,” said Mohsen Emami, deputy director of the tourism department of the Special Economical Region of Bam New Citadel to CHN correspondent. Having an area of 1000 hectare, the Special Economical Region of Bam New Citadel started its activities in 1997. Arg Development Organization is in charge of managing this economical region. Bam New Citadel is located 12 kilometer from Old Citadel of Bam. Its closeness to the historical Bam Citadel, which was the largest clay palace in the world before the earthquake reduced it to ruins, is the main reason that attracts a large number of tourists to this region. Prior to the earthquake which struck the area in 2003, the city of Bam attracted thousands of foreign and domestic tourists every year. According to Emami, considering the need of the region for job creation, constructing hotels and lodging units in this area will provide some job opportunities for the local inhabitants. “Following the increase in the number of domestic and foreign experts who have come to Bam to reconstruct this city and also the presence of experts and members of non governmental charity organizations, the hotels of the region have been filled quickly and the need to build a new hotel in this area has become evident,” said Emami. Bam Citadel, with 2000 years of history, was the greatest clay city of the world. Almost 80 percent of this ancient masterpiece was destroyed by the earthquake of December 26, 2003 which caused a significant decrease in the number of Bam tourists. |
