Tehran, 6 September 2005 (CHN) – Shahram Nazeri, one of Iran’s most popular traditional singers, known for his mastery of the Persian classical, Sufi and Kurdish repertoires is to have concerts in New York and Toronto in the upcoming months. Nazeri is Called “the Persian nightingale” and usually holds deeply soulful performances. Shahram Nazeri will visit New York and Toronto to perform concerts based on poems by Abolqasem Ferdowsi, the renowned Iranian poet of the epic masterpiece Shahnameh (the Book of Kings). Nazeri is holding the programs at the request of his son Hafez Nazeri, who has been studying music in New York for several years. His concert in New York will be held in the city town hall on Sunday 22nd of November 2005 from 7:00 PM in 123 W, 43rd Street, between 6th & 7th Avenue, New York. The price of the tickets will be 30, 40 and 50 US dollars. In his program he will perform vocal duets with his son and disciple, Hafez Nazeri, who plays Setar and lute, accompanied by an ensemble of musicians yet to be introduced. Nazeri was born in Kermanshah province in 1949, and during a career extending two decades has according to NY Times presented audiences with “...impassioned singing and meticulous improvisation...”. He has so far presented 25 albums. |
