UNESCO assistant director general for culture will be in Iran for a 7-day visit and for taking part in the 1st anniversary of Bam earthquake. Mounir Bouchenaki arrives in Iran on Thurs., Dec. 23. “Iranian CHTO has invited Mounir Bouchenaki for the 1st anniversary of Bam earthquake to witness the different stages of renovation in the city of Bam. Bouchenaki is due to officially present the UNESCO plate for the listing of Bam among the world natural & historical heritage sites.” Abdol-rasoul Vatandoust, deputy of international affairs for Iranian cultural heritage & tourism organization, told CHN. UNESCO assistant is also due to have 2 separate visits to the cities Zanjan and Shiraz. Bouchenaki is going to visit Soltanieh historical complex that will be studied for being registered in the world heritage list next year, and Persepolis and Pasargad historical complexes in Shiraz . Bouchenaki will also visit Tangeh-bolaghi ancient site that will be washed down with the inauguration of Sivand dam next year. Vatandoust said, “Due to the great importance of Tangeh-bolaghi sites, Iranian CHTO is going to use international aides for the preservation of these sites.” In his 7-day visit to Iran, Mounir Bouchenaki will also negotiate with the CHTO president on their future cooperations, and visit Iran’s research center for cultural and historical works in Tehran. |
