Chabahar Attracts Skin Divers to the Persian Gulf

Port of Chabahar, south of Iran, will become a center for skin diving training in the Persian Gulf.
Tehran, 27 September 2006 (CHN) -- The Persian Gulf with its calm waters and diverse sea fishes and vegetation is considered a unique location for skin diving. Therefore, the Southern beaches of Iran in Chabahar area will become a center for skin diving trainings.
“The skin diving club of Chabahar is intending to attract skin divers and within 11 months of its activity, it has managed to take 500 tourists for skin diving in the waters of the Persian Gulf,” said Mohamad Nayebpour, head of the Skin Diving Club of Chabahar.
The minimum age for skin diving is 12-year-old, and there are no upper-age limits, with the permission to dive just depending on the physical condition of the individuals.
According to Nayebpour, by completing a 30-minute theory class and a 30-minute class for becoming familiar with skin diving equipments, the trainees will be sent into the water.
Explaining that the trainers of the club all have international certificates, Nayebpour noted that the safety conditions of the skin diving activities of the club are 400 to 500 times above the standard level, with necessary medical facilities provided in the club for emergency cases. He also explained that sound areas have been designated for sending trainees who just want to skin dive for fun.
The Persian Gulf enjoys calm waters, and regarding the variety of fishes, it is a unique location for skin diving in the world. The best time for skin diving in Chabahar is in the middle of fall.
The club will moreover hold classes for training skin diving trainers after 15 years in Iran; free resistance have been considered for the inbound tourists to the region who want to take part in the classes.
According to Nayebpour, a group of skin divers from the International British Skin Diving School will come to Chabahar the coming November, considered a significant publicity in this regard.
He also added that the first skin diving school of Iran for industrial activities will be established in Chabahar in a near future.
