A team of archeologists from Oxford University will come to Tehran in a near future for further studies on the discovered mummies of Zanjan, known as salt men, and their belongings.

Two archeologists from universities of Oxford and York started their studies on the salt mummies found in western Iran. The salt men’s diet, health and age before death will particularly be studied by these experts.

Kansas Underground Salt Museum which will take visitors a 650-foot elevator and then ride through darkness in trams among more than two dozen salt-history galleries will open Tuesday.

 

While archeologists are hoping to find some more salt men in Chehr Abad salt mine, Zanjan province, owners of the mine are trying to extend their contract with Iran’s Mines and Industries Ministry for resuming their exploitation activities in Chehr Abad mine.

Based on expert decisions, the sixth salt man of Chehr Abad mine will rest under the huge stone just like what happened to him some 1800 years ago.
